What the designer had in mind when designing this knife: When we lost our youngest son, Toby, there was very little of him to hold on to; few possessions, so few memories. There was more to miss then hold on to in many ways. I started designing a knife at John's suggestion, pretty soon I knew what I was designing it for, something I could carry around, not like a picture, or a keepsake but something to use and enjoy the way you can't a memento.
As a knife I wanted something strong, classic and good for a variety of purposes. The ultimate EDC doesn't exist, but for me it does. The JK Toby's Knife has helped me fish, make dinner, whittle beside a camp fire and peel an apple while on the couch. It goes with me everywhere a knife can go these days, and always makes itself useful. I've yet to feel like I had the wrong tool for the job as long as that job was cutting, slicing and splitting.
I hope it might serve you well also.
